This gorgeous biennial is the host plant for the Painted Lady Butterfly! Very easy to grow, plants form attractive lily-pad-like clumps the first year and send out glorious bloom spikes the following season. It is definitely worth the wait! In most gardening zones hollyhocks will gently self seed and replace themselves year after year with a couple of new seedlings. Provide good airflow for plants to prevent rust.
