Shipping Information

Butterfly Kits and Caterpillar Cups are shipped via UPS Ground or Next Day Air and usually take 2-5 business days to arrive depending on the shipping method selected.

Note: we may choose a different shipping company than the one selected based on the following parameters: ​​

Your order will arrive faster than what was paid for to save time in transit.

A different shipping company​​ has been noted to be more reliable to deliver to your shipping address.

The selected shipping company is experiencing delays.

​No further charges or refunds will be made to your existing order unless we contact you prior to shipping and new terms/shipping details are discussed.

​​​Orders with live material: Please ensure your temperatures are between 45-85F for Guaranteed Live Arrival and the safety of your butterflies. We may choose to postpone your order an extra day or two if we see the temperatures at your shipping destination are unsuitable for safe delivery.

Orders with live butterflies or caterpillars are shipped from Monday through Wednesday depending on travel time from our Butterfly Lab (here in Illinois) to your destination. We will notify you when your order is shipped.

​​All orders include tracking numbers. Please ensure someone is available based on the tracking information to receive your caterpillars so they do not sit in the sun/outside.

​​​We do not ship to PO boxes. Please be sure someone is available to receive your package when it arrives. We are not responsible for packages left on your doorstep in undesirable weather conditions.
Shipping Costs

Shipping costs depend on your postal code and your preference for Ground or Next Day Air shipping. Some items may only allow for Next Day Air or Overnight shipping options as they may need to arrive before the weekend wait.
Delivery

In some circumstances we may choose to deliver your Butterfly Kit in person if the distance from our Butterfly Lab allows for it. Shipping fees already paid on your orders covers our hand-delivery fee in this instance. There will be no further charges on your order unless you are notified beforehand and have agreed to those new terms prior to delivery.
